At the narrowest point of the Malta High Alpine Road, two traffic lights ensure the safety of our guests. The road is only passable in one direction in this area. Bus drivers have the option of requesting an escort vehicle at the toll booth for €45.
If you let us know the maximum height of your vehicle in advance or when you first drive on the Malta Hochalmstraße, we'll provide you with an escort vehicle free of charge. Please register in good time.
The drive from the toll station up to the Kölnbrein Dam takes between half an hour and an hour. The waiting time at the first set of traffic lights is 22 minutes at the most and at the second set 10 minutes at the most. Your guests have the opportunity to visit the Maralmbachfall at the first set of traffic lights. Information regarding the waiting time is displayed by the falls. So you won't miss the green light. Please take the traffic light phases into account in your planning so that you arrive at the booked programme points on time.
Once you reach the Kölnbrein Dam, drive past the visitor car park directly to the Berghotel Malta and onto the coach park. This is also where you can find the souvenir shop where the dam tours start.
A group is defined as at least 15 paying passengers. From this number, the booked package including all services is free of charge for bus drivers. If there are at least 30 paying passengers, there is an additional free place for tour guides. The group offer applies exclusively to coach tour groups. Individual journeys by car do not count as a travel group.
Groups of 15 or more are kindly requested to register in advance. The maximum permitted group size is 40 people per tour.
