¹⁾Important information for motorhome travellers: Please note that camping is strictly prohibited along the entire Malta Hochalmstraße as well as on the motorhome car park at the Kölnbreinsperre. Thank you for your understanding and consideration!

¹⁾ Travel group: A group is defined as at least 15 paying persons. From this number, the respective booked package including all services for the coach driver and tour guide is free! The group offer is only valid for coach tour groups. Individual journeys by car do not count as a travel group.

By car

Two traffic lights at the narrowest points of the Malta Hochalmstraße ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic.

Tip: The first traffic light is located directly at the impressive Maralmbach Falls. The maximum waiting time here is 22 minutes. Use this time to experience the spectacular waterfall up close. Waiting time information on site shows you exactly when the green phase begins - you won't miss a thing!

At the second set of traffic lights, the waiting time is much shorter. While you wait, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Kölnbreinsperre dam and the picturesque Galgenbichlspeichersee lake - the perfect place for unforgettable photos!

Frequently asked questions

How does the online ticket booking work?

Open the ticketshop and select the desired category and number of tickets. Then check your selection in the shopping basket and complete the purchase process with the payment

The ticket can be printed out or used digitally. Please note that free parking is included until the end of the respective calendar day

Is parking included in the toll?

The parking fee is included in the regular toll ticket until the end of the calendar day. If you park for several days or overnight (weekly or season tickets), the printed parking ticket must be placed behind the windscreen of your vehicle.

Can I also buy the toll ticket on site?

Yes, tickets are also available at the Brandstatt toll station.

Discounts and vouchers

Cooperation partners: Take advantage of the discounted advance tickets that you can purchase from our cooperation partners such as Motorradland Kärnten, the municipality of Malta Guest Card.

Carinthia Card: With the Carinthia Card, use of the Malta High Alpine Road is free of charge. Travellers without the Carinthia Card pay € 7/person. As a bonus partner of the Carinthia Card, guided tours of the dam are discounted.

Overnight stay: If you stay overnight in huts or inns along the Malta High Alpine Road, you will also receive discounts. Please enquire with your host in advance. Subsequent refunds are not possible

Gift vouchers: Give someone a voucher for a visit to the Malta Hochalmstraße and Kölnbreinsperre or for an overnight stay in a mountain hotel. Browse through our gift voucher offers and give the gift of a very special mountain experience.

I have a guest card. Do I also get a discount when I buy online?

No, unfortunately no discount can be granted for online purchases. However, we are happy to grant holders of a valid Malta Guest Card or ARBÖ membership card a discount when purchasing at the Brandstatt toll station
